Aberdeen Filmmaker Antoni McMillan Featured in The Press and Journal for Gritty Feature Film, The Sands of Redemption
Aberdeen-born writer and producer Antoni McMillan has been featured in The Press and Journal for his outstanding efforts in creating his debut feature film, The Sands of Redemption. Shot across Aberdeen and the coast of Spain, the film tells the story of a young man fleeing the pressures of life and love — only to confront even greater challenges that force him to grow.
Despite working with a low budget and a small local crew, McMillan pushed through countless obstacles, including last-minute casting changes and cross-country logistics, to bring his vision to life. The Press and Journal article highlights McMillan's deep roots in the North-East, his time at Westhill Academy, and his professional experience on blockbuster sets like Indiana Jones and Batgirl.
Speaking to the paper, McMillan said:
“I just wanted to create something real — something that reflected what it’s like to feel lost, and then find a way forward. Aberdeen shaped me, and I wanted to give something back by filming here.”
The Sands of Redemption is now in post-production and will be submitted to film festivals later this year. FULL ARTICLE CAN BE FOUND HERE
